The Network Security Engineer is a strategic, "hands on", technical position within our growing organization.  This position is responsible for creating and maintaining the security design and integrity of customer’s network systems, along with coordinating complex projects. 


The Network Security Engineer will:

  • Provide technical advice and analyses in cyber security
  • Provide in-depth knowledge across technical disciplines
  • Use customer gathered technical information, requirements, and analysis to develop a best fit vendor agnostic solution, including project implementation plans and post implementation design documentation to meet information security requirements
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of networking, network security, virtualization, storage, server, data center services, and other leading-edge products and technology in conjunction with business skills to help customers visualize the solution and influence their decision
  • Provide innovative approaches to customer challenges
  • Provide malicious supply chain risk management analysis and program protection engineering
  • Assist with requirements and concepts of operation for cyber security 
  • Assist in program protection and information assurance aspects of developmental planning, systems acquisition and operational employment of systems
  • Work with staff agencies, departments, and corporate teams as required
  • Provide technical support to cyber security and supply chain risk management policy formulation
  • Coordinate engineering support and ensure high quality deliverables to government and corporate customers
  • Collaborate with Cross-Bureaus and Agencies to implement network changes as they relate to perimeter security
  • Directing and overseeing the efforts of trained technical professionals as they provide operations and maintenance support to perimeter security devices
  • Daily "hands on" engineering work required with IT security systems, devices, and tool sets


Viable candidates need to be well versed in cyber security tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks as well as have familiarity and experience in the implementation of cyber security regulations.


Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience building and maintaining Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with at least one of these is required (the more the better): A10, ASA, Stonegate, Sidewinder, Checkpoint, and/or Blue Coat appliances.
  • IT experience in all aspects of cyber security with a vast array of IT systems involving end user as well as enterprise level networks
  • Email Security Appliances (Cisco Ironport) and content filtering 
  • Design and implementation of systems that meet agency cyber security policy and regulations
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


Desired Skills:

  • Security certifications like CISSP or CISM are desired


  • Active Secret Security Clearance, and be clearable for Top Secret clearance.  

Work location is primarily out of Springfield, VA; with occasional travel to NW D.C, Beltsville, MD
