    SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated team member to fill the role of Security Analyst with a focus area of Firewall operations and architecture support to join our team supporting the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Networks and Security Operations Division and Office of Environmental Information under the Infrastructure Support and Applications Hosting task order.

     

    The purpose of this contract is to develop and operate EPA's infrastructure and application platforms to be reliable, secure, and technologically advanced. The services obtained under this contract support the entirety of EPA at all geographic locations and numerous research facilities across the United States. The services consist of data center management, application hosting, application deployment/maintenance, geospatial service support, network security, cyber security, cloud computing, COOP support, and Enterprise Identity and Access Management (EIAM) and Active Directory (AD). The primary work location is in Research Triangle Park, NC.

    Responsibilities

    • Determines enterprise information assurance and security standards.
    • Develops and implements information assurance/security standards and procedures.
    • Coordinates, develops, and evaluates security programs for an organization. Recommends information assurance/security solutions to support customers’ requirements.
    • Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations.
    • Establishes and satisfies information assurance and security requirements based upon the analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands.
    • Applies know-how to government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures.
    • Performs analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures.
    • Designs, develops, engineers, and implements solutions that meet security requirements.
    • Provides integration and implementation of the computer system security solution.
    • Analyzes general information assurance-related technical problems and provides engineering and technical support in solving these problems.
    • Performs vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
    • Ensures that all security systems are functional and secure.
    • Support of the agency internal and boundary firewall infrastructure to provide security risk reduction using the Fortinet product line and its UTM feature set.
    • Installing and maintaining Fortinet FortiGates, FortiAnalyzers, FortiCollectors, FortiManagers and FortiConverter software.
    • Troubleshooting issues on these platforms to resolution, including potential vendor interaction.
    • Implementing firewall rule changes to provide required application and system access
    • Supporting infrastructure design related to security device connectivity to the remainder of the network
    • Product selection, testing and recommendation, resulting in high quality security solutions.
    • Interfacing with and mentoring other team members to provide excellent customer service and ensuring completion of projects and tasks assigned to the security team.
    • Performing incident investigation and resolution of complex traffic flow issues that traverse the firewall devices.
    • Providing guidance on how to implement firewall rules, while still maintaining EPA’s overall risk profile.
    • Implementing VPN connections to outside business partners for EPA.
    • Possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. 
    • Plan and leads major technology assignments.
    • Evaluates performance results and recommeds major changes affecting short-term project growth and success
    • Fuctions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
    • May supervise others.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    BS or MS equivalent + 4 to 6 years current hands on experience supporting a complex multi-zoned firewall environment

     

    Certifications:

     

    Certificate of Proficiency on an industry standard UTM firewall platform (highly desired)

    Certificate of Proficiency on Fortinet security related products (desired)

    • Must be US Citizen
    • Experience using a central ticketing system such as Remedy for resolving incidents
    • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience using Microsoft Visio for drawings
    • Experience following a change management system to submit and perform changes
    • Developing and documenting SOPs related to the work being performed.
