    SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will support Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers. 

    Responsibilities

    • Role in Technical Evaluations:
      • Supports the Data Access and Storage Data and Interface Architect
      • Working with the Security Lead, in identifying and evaluating potential sources of applicant security challenges, particularly those associated with access external data sources.
    • Identifies and evaluates application security related options and implementation approaches to overcome these application security challenges
    • During implementation: Support the Agile Development Team in implementing capabilities in a way that allows effective application security while enabling equally effective access to external data sources.
    • Provide support to plan, coordinate, and implement the organizations information security.
    • Provide support for facilitating and helping agencies identify their current security infrastructure and define future programs, design and implementation of firewall and other relation security issues on LANs/WANs.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience.   

    To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

    • 5+ years experience in IT with a focus on application security
    • Working knowledge of several of the following areas:
    • Understanding of business security practices and procedures
    • Knowledge of current security tools available
    • Hardware/software firewalls and their implementation
    • Different communication protocols
    • Encryption techniques/tools
    • Familiarity with commercial products (ex. Domain Name Systems, public key encryption technology, Smartcard, Cyberguard, TimeStep)
    • Current Internet and electronic commerce technology
