    SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. currently has an opening for a skilled senior level Data Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will support Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.  As part of the modernization program, the data lead architect will set and maintain the vision for all Data Engineering aspects of the Program and ensure that this vision is adequately addressed and implemented consistently across all Project teams and Program efforts.

    Responsibilities

    • During Technical Evaluation: Works with the Data Lead Architect to help evolve and ensure that the Project data architecture needs, primarily those associated with accessing external data sources, are adequately represented and accounted for in the ConsularOne data architecture.
    • During Implementation: Is the primary focal point for ensuring effective implementation of the data architecture strategy for accessing external data sources.  Supports other Agile Development Teams where they have needs to access external data sources and works with the Solution Architecture Team to identify and resolve any issues that come up or changes that might be necessary.
    • Establish system information requirements using analysis of the information engineer(s) in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems. Design architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces
    • Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the OSI and ISO reference models, and profiles of standards - such as IEEE OSE reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of information management solution of the application platform, across the API, and the external environment/software application.
    • Ensure that the common operating environment is compliant with the Agency enterprise architecture and applicable reference models.
    • Evaluate analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization, and planning and develop appropriate corrective action.
    • Provide daily supervision and direction to staff

    Qualifications

    • Active Secret Clearance required
    • Requires a bachelor's degree
    • Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem solving, troubleshooting and documentation skills
    • Prior experience with Agile
