  • Overview

    SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist SME to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will support Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers. 

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as the Project Technical Lead
    • Ensure all aspects of the Agile and supporting Teams efforts result in an extensible solution that effectively meets the needs of the Data Scientists and other who use the system
    • Serves as primary, customer-facing point-of-contact or all technical aspects of the solution being implemented.
    • Analyze user needs to determine functional requirements and define problems and develop plans and requirements in the subject matter are for moderately complex to complex systems related to information systems architecture, networking;

    • Perform functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships.

    • Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills

    Qualifications

    • Active Secret Clearance
    • Bachelor's (with at least 5 years' experience) from an accredited college or university in Operations Research, Statistics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or other technical degree in a relevant field
    • Experience with statistical analyses involving anomaly detection (e.g., support vector machine, principal component analysis), clustering (e.g., k-means, hierarchical), regression (e.g., linear, multi-level), two- and multi-class classification (e.g., logistic regression, decision tree, neural network)
    • Proficiency with statistical programs such as R (preferred), Python (preferred), SAS, SPSS, and MATLAB.
    • Demonstrated experience in data management (e.g., Oracle, SQL)
    • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
    • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems
    • Ability to obtain/maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
    • Excellent written and oral communication
    • U.S. Citizenship is required
