SkyePoint Decisions is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Department of State's (DOS) CSM Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.


The PA Network Engineer will work closely with the architecture team and the customer to design and implement network solutions in the cloud utilizing open source and commercial infrastructure, platform, and software as a service (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) offerings.


  • Perform end-to-end networking system integration and operations.
  • Perform analysis of network solutions including tools and techniques to meet specification and design.
  • Conduct testing of network design.
  • Implement, monitor and maintain systems, network activities and services.
  • Maintain configuration oversight of the network.
  • Assist in defining and implementing Microsoft Azure solution architectures.
  • Create Virtual Machine templates and deploy virtual machines from templates and allocate resources.
  • Develop system hardening approaches for remediation to vulnerabilities
  • Support security audits, accreditation and certification processes, and obtaining approval to operate (ATO) for cloud-based system architectures
  • Develop and maintain scripts to support automation of cloud configuration and administration


  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience developing, configuring, and managing secure networking solutions
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, IP sub-netting, ACLs, advanced routing protocols
  • Working knowledge with different Windows and Linux versions and varieties
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy and patch management
  • Strong working knowledge of NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP Compliance sets
  • Experience working with Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS)
  • Experience in virus and malware prevention, detection and remediation
  • Experience in Bash scripting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Active Secret (or higher) clearance (interim acceptable)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Familiarity with Terraform and Packer
  • Familiarity with Docker
  • Experience with Python and PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with Configuration management systems
