As a SkyePoint employee you will be given the opportunity to support some of our nation’s most critical information systems by utilizing not only your existing cybersecurity skills and talents, but those that you will learn in your new role. In your new role as a cyber security professional, you will protect our customer’s most sensitive data and complex systems from all forms of threats including cyber-attacks, insider threats, rogue network devices, and malicious software and applications. You will work with a team of like-minded professionals to share and collaborate upon your ideas to improve the cybersecurity infrastructure, architecture, and configuration deployments. What can you achieve and how you will make a difference – 

 

In this role you will support the Chief Information Security Officer at the Department of State to design a cybersecurity architecture and infrastructure that promotes regionalization, compartmentalization, and minimize access to the Internet through approved pathways. In addition, the candidate must implement protection services, such as authentication and authorization and predictive analytics-based services, and coordinate with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) to develop and enhance cybersecurity capabilities. The primary work location will be in Washington, DC, with occasional local travel. This position will take a defense-in-depth approach to providing security engineering, continuous monitoring, risk assessment, technical assistance, remediation and eradication, and cybersecurity training.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in enterprise security architecture and computer network defense.
  • Develop and maintain a complete understanding of the department’s technology and information systems and support the Chief Information Security Officer to mitigate cyber risk and threats.
  • Offer insight, recommendations, and support in the designing, building, and implementation of enterprise-class security system.
  • Align organizational security strategy and infrastructure with overall business and technology strategy
  • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats
  • Engineer and/or architect cyber defensive capabilities to protect, detect, and respond to cyber threats and attacks using vulnerability management, database intrusion detection, and security incident event management.
  • Perform vulnerability testing, risk analyses and security assessments
  • Create solutions that balance business requirements with information and cybersecurity requirements
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most cost efficient and cost-effective solutions considering requirements.
  • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements
  • Define, implement and maintain security policies and procedures
  • Respond immediately to security-related incidents and provide thorough remedial solutions and analysis
  • Regularly communicate vital information, security needs and priorities to upper management
  • Provide detailed and clear documentation on all products
  • Must have experience working in one or more of the following IT domains (in order of preference): cybersecurity, infrastructure/cloud, software development.
  • Must be capable of providing security engineering support and research Information Assurance (IA) products and technology, test contingency and recovery plans, and evaluate changes to statutes, directives, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) to ensure security compliance, and work with the other IRM operation entities to resolve security vulnerability issues and advance Department security maturation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity and/or other related fields
  • Requires a minimum of 15 years of experience of Cybersecurity
  • Requires thorough understanding of security controls as related to SANS: CIS critical guidelines
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem solving, troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic information security goals.
  • Experience with applying a structured approach and methodology to the development of an enterprise security architecture and infrastructure.
  • Must have experience working with large scale enterprise networks, preferably Cisco
  • CISM and/or CISSP certification preferred

 

Applicants selected for this position will require an active Secret clearance, and background screening. Applicants selected for this role will be put in for a Top Secret security clearance will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirement for access to classified information.
